Real Estate Anchor Text Factors
Many factors determine how much value you get out of anchor text on any given link, such as pagerank, trustrank, relevance, position of link on page and the websites age. So the questions becomes, should you focus on obtaining a few really good links with your city real estate anchor text, or focus on volume.
Many SEO Pros believe in quality over quantity, however there is something to be said for volume when it comes to anchor text. I see many real estate websites ranking very well that have tons of low quality links, then again it all comes down to how competitive the keywords are.
If your launching a new site include multiple tactics, get both quality and quantity. Try not to depend on a single strategy for success, your better of knowing that if one link fails you have others in place to help you along.

I have tended to go for quantity over quality out of necessity, but over time I have attempted to develop my own quality sources of higher quality back links for my main site. The blog post above is from one of my quality sources I have been developing. Would love to hear other suggestions you have though.

Thanks for the post! I continue to hear more about anchor text, as it seems to be a new area of emphasis with the search engines. This is something I have begun to work on and have seen some results!

@ J Boyer – Your right quality is always best! You can have a handful of quality links and outrank most sites. However, it does help to have many links with proper anchor text for several reasons.
1. The weight of the anchor text does help with your serps
2. You can hide the good and the bad from your competitors that are trying to follow you.

I am afraid if you are just starting out the quantity as to come first (according to our SEO adviser) Get the content in, then fine tune, with the end result being a vast quantity of quality……but it takes time.

@ West H. – True to a certain extent, depends on how competitive your market is. I see sites rank very well with just garbage links, however they have a lot of them
@ Mike – I think dofollow blogs are more of a temporary boost. I wouldn’t put to much work or emphasis on them, there are much better things you could spend your time on. Unless I get something besides a link out of a blog, I won’t visit or comment that often. If I receive great info, then the link is an added bonus.

I have to agree that SEO is something that cannot be defined by certain parameters. When working in the field you need to be willing to cover ALL of the bases for best results.

What do you think of the new search engine changes based more on bounce rate than links.

The comments on this post are interesting – I like the idea of maybe confusing people by not exclusively focusing on quality links – I think I do that anyway because I like to think I comment on things that are interesting no matter the quality of the potential link back.

I don’t think bounce rate is going to play a significant factor – however I think it can be used as a signal of useful your site is – google seems to always be focused on the user so it is a good thing to analyze.
