Real Estate Blogging 101 – Let’s Get Started!
Your real estate niche website needs a regularly updated blog. A blog section on the site is a place where your visitors can gain new information about topics on your real estate website, new real estate articles, and links to other websites that may be helpful to them.
Blog posts do not need to be long, and do not need to be filled with awe inspiring content every time. A blog post on your real estate website may be just a few lines long with a link to an interesting real estate web article. Or it could be a short review and link to one of your own outstanding articles elsewhere on the site.
When you do write a blog post for your real estate website, you should always consider which keyword should be optimized within the article body of the post. Keywords play an integral part in getting your blog post noticed by search engines.
Post frequently
Blog every day if you can. Web search engine algorithms pick up more on websites that are updated frequently. The more frequently you post and update your real estate website the better chance you can get new traffic from search engines.
Comments
Your blog posts can stimulate discussion and motivate your readers to post comments on your blog. Comments are also a good way to keep your real estate website updated and show new readers that others read your blog as well. Encourage comments from your readers. Ask questions or take a poll in your blog posts. Comment on other real estate blogs. Usually they will reciprocate and comment on yours as well. Your real estate website blog can be an interesting discussion hub for your readers.
The benefits of blogging for your real estate website are great. Don’t neglect a blog on your website just because you think it is time consuming. A simple blog updated frequently takes little time and brings big rewards for your real estate internet marketing traffic.

Great advice – blogs play a crucial role for any website and updating blogs frequently is extremely important. Most bloggers unfortunately neglect their blogs and never realize the good things they can do for their business, brand and website. It’s a win-win-win with blogs and after awile, your microphone becomes larger.

I have taken blogging to hart. I now have 4 wordpress blogs, 3 independent and 1 which is linked to here is on my main website. Just started posting to the blog on my own site about 6 weeks ago. Have not seen any real benefits yet, but I will keep trying. Do you recommend link building to the individual posts as a way of helping the main website as well, or do you think that is just a waist of time?

@ J Boyer – I think you’ll see Hugh benefits when posting the best local real estate content on your main site. We update our brokerage blog content just about on a daily bases. For a while we received decent long tail traffic (which was ok), however lately major newspapers and magazines have noticed our blog and now link to us on a regular basis from their blogs.
We’ve received many leads and the authority links are a Great bonus too

Thanks for responding to my questions. Just curious on your thoughts about link building to the individual posts. Is there much of any benifit to building 10 to 20 links to the individual posts? More wondering about the effect if any such link building would have on the quality of the links in the post pointing at the main website.
Thanks,
Jim

Boyer, I do think it’s a good idea to point links to your posts, this will benefit your internal linking which is also important.
It’s fairly quick to bookmark some of your posts on digg, real estate voices, kirtsy etc.

What do you think of a posting frequency of 3 times a week? Is that too seldom? I’m trying to ’store up’ posts and schedule them for mon. wed. and fri. so the pressure to post will be relieved. I come up with better content when the pressure is off.

@ JCL – I think 3 posts per week is great. That’s way above and beyond the average agent.
Your also right about storing up posts, I do the same thing on about 6 different blogs.
